After waking up in a mysterious forest, Roan is taken captive by the Mirkwood elves. Afraid she might never get out of the dungeon with a hideous orc as a neighbour, she meets Haldir from Lothlorien in her despair. They get along, and he seems to be the only one who's kind to her. There are other conflicting accounts of Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons and I have attempted to include those viewpoints as well when they can be worked into Saxo's historical timeline, but this Book 1 of my 'The Varangian' series will be attempting to show how Saxo blended fiction and true history in his Nine Books.Complete
