Freedom.

Both mental and physical, it's something Night and Sunray have scarcely known throughout the years of their relationship. Mentally, they were forced to stick to the infamous rule of keeping their identities secret from all--friends and enemies. Physically, the barrier between light and darkness kept them from touching each other under normal circumstances. Both walls were even harder than normal because they were the first of nine pairs of gem holders to fall in love.

Until everything changes in a single day.

Surrounded by shocks at every angle--the discovery of Tizian's survival, the unexpected defeat of Preciser, meeting an unlikely friend, becoming conscious lovers, identities being revealed at last--Alex and Jakira find themselves facing a new enemy, barely after the defeat of the old one. This new enemy seems more clever, more intimidating, more unpredictable, and more unsettling than Preciser had ever been. Life becomes more difficult than ever before, and both teens can't help but feel that this entire ordeal will leave them both changed forever.

TWs: depression, violence, near-death sequences, PTSD episodes, panic/anxiety attacks, SEVERE anxiety, mentions of suicide/suicidal thoughts

You're just a little birdie, minding your own business-flying around, dodging falling leaves, trying not to get too involved in the messes of the city below. But, oh, the drama! The masked hero and the brooding villain you've been watching for months-yeah, those two? They have a lot of secrets. The hero's perfect, obviously, saving the world and all that. But the villain? Oh, dear. By day, they wear a mask of evil and power, but you've seen what happens when the cape comes off. There's some serious darkness lurking in their private life-self-loathing, quiet pain, and way too many late-night mood swings. But don't worry, the villain's got it under control... or so they think. You thought their love story was one of those sweet "enemies-to-lovers" kind of deals, until you saw the truth from way up here. It's a mess. Betrayal. Anger. Love. Secret identities. A fight that's way more personal than you ever imagined. But hey, that's not your problem, right? You're just a bird. Except, well... Maybe you care. Maybe you're the one who's been flying around, wondering if their messy, secret love story will ever have a happy ending-or if one of them will end up on the wrong side of the city's skyscraper (literally). From your vantage point, it's a little too close for comfort, but hey-no one ever said love was easy, even for villains and heroes. Just try not to get caught in the crossfire, okay? Where Light Meets Dark

24 parts Complete

[COMPLETED ~ TO BE PUBLISHED... eventually] Sunray was the light, lonely and shining. She was a beacon of hope to the public, but quiet in her own life. To everyone else, anyway. Night was her shadow, sworn to protect her just as much as his home. He was a quiet one, to everyone else, anyway. He was the hero who would rather battle a giant than talk to strangers. They would do anything for each other, even without knowing the real person behind the masks. They were best friends, secretly in love, who didn't know each other's real names. Until they accidentally met in real life, and couldn't figure out why it felt more like déjà vu than anything else . . . ------------------------------------------------------------------- In case the intro of Chapter 2 leaves you wondering, yes, there's a prequel. It's just not out yet. XD Possible TWs: Depression, direct mentions of suicide and PTSD, anxiety attacks, brief mention of drug addiction, death [starvation], violence (typically non-graphic) (Cover art by @Avichayil4 :D) Enjoy!
