This is the story of a 13 year old girl, Alice, that just wants to get through life alive. She wants someone to care for her and love her without hurting her along the way.
Her parents are divorced. Her father has gotten remarried and has a step son and step daughter. Alice's father has moved on with his life, or so she thinks. Her mother keeps her away from her father, even though they all live in one small town.
Her mother is verbally abusive and has treated Alice's half brother, half sister, and Alice wrongly throughout their whole life.
But when Alice cannot stand to live under the same roof as her mother any longer she makes different arrangements.
