They haunted her dreams. Wizards. Warriors. Kings. Dark Lords. Beings of ethereal beauty. Flying cars. Protective trees. Adara's dreams were always so vivid. She blamed it on her reading addiction. Some days she'd dream she was a demigod. Others she was a witch at Hogwarts. Last night she'd dreamt that she was in Rivendell except when she woke, she found that maybe it really wasn't a dream. "I don't understand. This isn't how it was supposed to happen. The story wasn't supposed to be like this." "I write my own story. I make my own choices. And I choose you. I choose to love you...." ~ Aragorn/OC Also posted on AO3 and FanFiction.Net

The youngest of Lord Elrond's children has always been different from her siblings. A part of her seemed to be locked away, waiting for the right moment to burst forth. Despite this, she was loved, she was treasured and she was protected... until she wasn't. The day she unlocked her true self is a day that haunts her. Instead of the assured protection of her family, she became the protector. That day lingers. It scars. The traumatic event not only affected her but her family. As time moves forward the scar remains, not loudly or visible but it remains. Until an event occurs and that nightmare was said to slink back into darkness, providing a semblance of peace. A small fire, a source of heat for her but a beacon for unsavoury characters. That is all took for the nightmare to come back. That once locked part now pulsates. A warning perhaps or a sign of evolving. She seeks out a wizard for her answers and instead she leaves with more questions and uncertainties. She offers her help when asked, a small thing for a dear friend... Oh how she regrets that. Dwarves! Dragons! Wargs! She did not agree with this. She did not agree with it at all! Amongst, verbally combating with dwarves, playing therapist to an emotionally compromised hobbit, refraining from pushing an annoyingly vague wizard; she finds the past does not remain there. Legolas x oc I own nothing but my original characters and original plot.
