The Hanahaki Disease is an illness born from one-sided love, where the patient throws up and coughs up flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love. The infection can be removed through surgery, but the feelings disappear along with the petals.

If you get the surgery, it removes all emotions so you would feel nothing. Eijiro is head over heels in love with Katsuki but Katsuki doesn't return his feelings. Eijiro develops a disease called Hanahaki (see above) and this story is about his recovery and what recovery he will choose. Will he try to find new love? Or will he give up his emotions to no longer feel the pain?
