27th July 1914. I was eighteen when I joined. I said goodbye to my family and went off. Sat in my own carriage. It was a long way to the next station so I read a book about King George VI. The First World War would start tomorrow at 7:00 am and I was ready for it. Suddenly a recording came on the radio. The radio crackled into a line of conflict and war. It was Churchill. Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill. He was the former Prime Minister of England. He said that Russia had joined and France had joined too. Russia was on Germany's side and France was on our side. It had already been 3 hours since I left home and on our way to the airport.Alle Rechte vorbehalten
