Casper Lee James is a 15-year-old transgender male living in the busy city of Toronto, Ontario. His mother died 3 years ago from a drug overdose, and his father hasn't been right in the head since Casper was born. Thomas James is an abusive alcoholic, and has been taking from Casper since he was 5 years old. Casper's innocence was stolen from him at a young age, and since then, there have been multiple people inside Casper's mind helping him through the trauma's life throws his way.
Casper has Dissociative Identity Disorder (see prologue for definition), and has been professionally diagnosed since he was 9 years old. Casper has been in therapy since the age of 6, when his mother - however, oblivious to her husband's abusive ways - decided that, due to his lack of speaking openly about his feelings and the demons that haunted him, her son would benefit from speaking to a licensed professional.
Now entering the tenth grade, Casper meets Jacob Holmes; captain of the sophomore year football team, and straight-A student. Having been so used to letting no one past the walls he's built up inside, Casper can't help but raise his guard when Jacob tries so hard to get inside Casper's mind, and help the wrecked boy.
Choices must be made, and sometimes hearts must be broken, but in the end, fantasy and reality have no place with each other.
Nixon is the 3rd book in the Broken Series. (Ryan is the 1st, Brynn is the 2nd)
Nixon leaves rehab early because he can't deal with being there anymore. His sister Kelis finds someone in need of a roommate so he moves in with the girl and gives her his middle name, Lucas. He quickly becomes addicted to the girl and once he gets one taste he's done for. He warns her about his past, about his name, but she ignores all the red flags, not realizing exactly how intertwined she is with the people from his past. He becomes enamored with her, feels like she was made for him while still battling the demons of his past and soon it all becomes too much for him to handle. He makes a heartbreaking decision, thinking it's what's best for both of them and everything changes.
