(this is a 1940's set story)
following the life of a black 15 year old female by the name of Lemay and her family, the Joneses. + along with Lemay, is her friend Mason, who is the same age and race as Lemay. but what leads Lemay as a different black female in the 40's is her facial features, which do not physically set her as a "negro".
