Death lurks the alleys in downtown Paris at the height of Le Belle Epoque. A young love lost; a heartless tragedy suffered; and a cold truth learned - all chronicled in only two pages! A short story for anyone with a little time up their sleeve. This piece can be interpreted in a variety of ways, but I wanted to capture the reality that the life of any person can end at any time. The fragility of life is so often forgotten in the face of other struggles. I feel it’s incredibly important to remember that our lives flicker like candles; they are lit just as easily as they are extinguished.
