We thought that the First World War, would end all wars. 

We thought the Second World War, would end international conflicts and imperialism. 

We thought that by creating a weapon so powerful that mankind could be blow itself up back to the Stone Age would make the world safer. 

We thought we could avoid further conflict by giving that weapon to 8 other nations in constant war. 

We thought that it was better to fight indirectly and cause human suffering in other nations than to fix problems diplomatically. 

We were wrong.
