This takes place after Planes: Fire and Rescue, but, it also takes place right after Dusty wins the Wings Around the Globe Rally for the first time.
It makes sense, I promise.

An Artic Wings Around the Globe Rally may sound fun to other cars and planes, but NOT to Dusty Crophopper. After his rough encounter in the Himalayas, he was just hoping for a little break with warm weather and smooth flying. Low and behold, all the WATGR veterans were appointed to fly in yet another rally, this time braving the frigid conditions of the countries, just MONTHS after the first.
Everyone else seemed excited, and even Dusty was starting to feel a trickle of anticipation towards the race. He just prayed it would go by smoothly, so he could return to his home as soon as possible.
Just 1 plane can change all that.
