I've been learning about them for years, finding out everything I can. Which snakes are venomous, which are constrictors. The most dangerous, the most unique, the good, bad, and ugly. They, as a species, are marvelous.
I received my fair share of teasing names over the years for my fascination. Few were kind. I ignored them in favor of delving into more books, research papers, reading and analyzing and focusing myself on becoming an expert all things serpentine.
It seemed only fate that I found what I did, that day the circus came to town."

A dragon. Virgil after being cursed was hunted down by "Brave warriors" who wanted to bring home his head to the king to prove they were worthy of taking the position of crowned king when he passes.
