Há muito tempo um acidente envolvendo uma arma química destruiu a humanidade. Hoje os chamados zumbis vagueiam entre nós. Existem as colônias, que são onde os humanos ainda saudáveis habitam. As pessoas são divididas em grupos:
Civis, Vigias, O Concelho, Caçadores e Exterminadores.
Os Exterminadores são os que matam aqueles que tentam os matar. E quanto maior sua habilidade, diferente o nome que recebe.
Novato, Menor, Maior, Mestre, Beta e Alpha.
Os Mestres treinam os novatos. Se você sobreviver aos desafios impostos, você sobe de categoria.
Nicolle é uma Exterminadora de dezesseis anos. Jovem prodígio que já é Mestre.
Em um dos treinamentos dos novatos, os portões foram arrebentados e a grande quantidade de mortos era demais para os novatos inexperientes.
Talvez isso não fosse problema para a jovem Mestre, mas o número de zumbis e novatos jogados a jaula não ajuda.
É necessário ajudar o máximo de novatos que puder, afinal, são nove meses para nascer um bebê, e mais quatorze anos para se ter apenas um novato. Anos e mais anos para ter ao menos um mestre, e apenas minutos ou segundos para ter mais um morto correndo atrás de você!
Mas ela só tem uma faca e doze balas em sua arma!
