My skin crawled. It felt like an itchy sweater that I couldn't wait to tear off my body. I wanted to flay myself there and then to keep from the weight of his eyes on my flesh. I could barely handle it. But this is real life and I can't just disappear and vanish into thin air. I can't just shake my head and come out of my reverie in the comfort of my own bed. So, I bit the bullet and met his eyes. I must admit, I couldn't believe how warm they were. He wasn't looking at me like I was damaged goods. He wasn't seeing my scarred skin and crushing insecurities. He was looking at me like he wanted to keep seeing me. Like I was worth his time. Like my itchy sweater of a being was a soft, cuddly blanket he wanted to dive into. I hated being seen, couldn't remember the last time I really was, but at the same time I couldn't get enough.
