The Journey So Far, de Berabouman

When I was 15 years of age, I was prepared to take my life. I watched an anime series called Neon Genesis Evangelion, and decided not to. 18 years later I wrote a book about everything that happened in-between. In my memoir/autobiography - The Journey So Far: A Transcultural Tale of Giant Robots, Abuse, Mental Illness, Spirituality and how Video Games and Anime Saved a Young Man's Life, I recount the story of how a young man faced with a myriad of crippling mental illnesses and a dysfunctional and abusive family kept afloat with the help of video games, anime, music, therapy and a host of other things. It is a tale of both tragedy and triumph - how I almost died on more than one occasion, but persevered and eventually found love, friendship, human connection and greater understanding of the world and its ways, as well as reconciliation with my abusers. And it's got giant robots in it! How could you say no? :)

Name's Asher. I prefer Ash. I'm 16 and bit of a troublemaker. I got expelled from 2 different schools for stupid things. I've been arrested 2 times, but only stayed in jail for 2-month max. My family is very rich, thanks to my dad and mom. I have moved to 4 different cities. I don't really see my parents because they're always busy with work, but I guess we get money for food, shelter, and whatever. I have one older brother in college and a younger sister. Favorite colour is blue, but I only wear black. The years I don't have school because I got expelled my parents hire a private teacher to teach me so I'm in my regular grade.Well kind of I skipped the 1st grade and then my grades started to drop, but then I had to retake 5th grade.Remember, I may look tough, but I can do things that will surprise you. I only have one rule and that is: Never hurt, cross, or cause me any harm in any way because I swear what I do to you won't be pretty.

Nonetheless, people seem to really enjoy the story, and for that I'm glad. Just know that some of the themes may not be accurately portrayed because of my own inexperience with them. And unfortunately, I don't plan on revisiting this to make it better. Anyway, please enjoy this crazy story I wrote all the way back in the early days of middle school!

"She's right! She's right! I don't cut in the right spot." My hold tightens on my wrist. The red blood oozes out of my wrist. I slide up and grab my bag and run out of the bathroom. I don't care if people can see the blood I just want to get out. I race for the doors and shove through people. I earn a lot of glares and glances that read "weirdo." I ignore and push. I run to my house and lock myself in my bathroom. I don't bother closing the front door cause I don't care if people come in to kill me. I grab my razor and cut deep cuts into my arm and wrists falling into a pool of my own blood. • • • Evangeline has a great life. Friends? Check! Good grades? Check! Loving family? Check! But what if she has secrets that nobody knows of? What if the only thing she can trust is her secret diary? What if slowly but surly she's dying inside? How can an innocent twelve year old deal with these problems? Will she keep on facing these problem till the day she breaks. Her school burns down forcing her into a different school to meet different people and she has to fit into a different lifestyle as well. Meet Evangeline. Now at 17 years of age in a new high school. Not all girls anymore. No uniform. Meet Drake. Your classic bad-boy. He just moved to Saint Abigail high school. He is assigned partners with the quiet, calm, unnoticed Evangeline.
