Millie lives a fairly  normal life at her grandma's farm, well as normal of a life a girl could have in a world where magic runs wild, pirates sail the seas, and creatures of myth roam the sky and land. However on her fifteenth birthday she gets a present that sends her and three of her friends on dangerous quest for the fabled Winter Forest, and hopefully her parents.
