For the past school year she had been living at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, despite being to young to be enrolled at the school. 

She had been found all alone by non other than Sirius Black (An askaban escapee, who was sent there for murders he didn't commit) who took her up to the school and left her in the castle grounds.

She was soon found by the schools game keeper, Hagrid, and taken to Albus Dumbledore the schools headmaster.

One long conversation between Cornelius Fudge (The minister for magic), a representative for the department of lost and abandoned Magical Children and Albus Dumbledore himself, they came to the agreement that Hogwarts was the safest place for her to stay while they worked out who the child was.All Rights Reserved
