The Mean Duo ✔
"They say polar opposites attract." Natalie White thinks that's complete nonsense. As the mayor's daughter and the undisputed queen bee of California High, she's spent her entire life getting exactly what she wants. Feared, admired, and never challenged, Natalie has no intention of changing who she is for anyone. If being the villain in someone else's story means getting ahead, then so be it. But everything changes when Xavier Russo arrives. A scholarship student from Italy with a dangerous reputation and a permanent scowl, Xavier couldn't care less about Natalie's status, wealth, or influence. Unlike everyone else, he's not intimidated by her-and he's certainly not interested in playing by her rules. Xavier came to California High for a fresh start, not to deal with a spoiled rich girl determined to make his life miserable. Yet the more Natalie pushes, the harder he pushes back, turning their rivalry into an all-out war. She refuses to back down. He refuses to be controlled. And when two people who hate each other this much collide, sparks are bound to fly. Told through alternating POVs, The Mean Girl and The Black Eye follows two stubborn enemies as they navigate rivalry, attraction, secrets, and the scars of their pasts. The question is: will they destroy each other, or discover that sometimes the person you can't stand is the one you can't stay away from? ⚠ Warning: Mature themes, strong language, graphic fight scenes, violence, PTSD, and emotional trauma.Complete
When Sophomores Collide (BoyxBoy) ✓
"Theo. If I'm not mistaken? Isn't this yours?" He extended a hand, holding my penguin printed handkerchief. My eyes couldn't have gotten so wide. I quickly swiped it out of his grasp. "Ah, t-thank you." I stuttered before walking away and out of the school, but before I did, I heard a deep chuckle behind me that I guessed was from Hunter. *** Theodore Willshire, attractive, sassy, incredibly talented and extremely intelligent. His goal is to find love. But because of his sexual preference, it's not always easy. But he has his eye on one boy. Hunter Fierro. I guess you could say he is... the cliche heartthrob of the school. He's known as the kindest, accepting and can literally make anyone fall in love with him if he wants. How will the two of them meet? Easy! They just have to recall their past... Right? As they blindly step foot into Sophomore Year. Theo will make unexpected friends, allies and enemies, maybe even meet the love of his life! Longlisted for ONC 2023! "You think they'd spare you? The second they find us--and they will find us--they won't hesitate." He pushed the blade into Jules' hand. "Holding a gun at war isn't a crime." Jules' grandfather is one of the most powerful people in Emaru. Blessed as a dual wielder of glass and stone while most can only control one, he needs to transfer this power to a worthy heir and send them off to kill Kurayami, an out-of-control dual wielder, before he dies. Logically, Jules knows it should be her. They are kin, and family is everything on Emaru. But every day Jules wraps her chest in bandages and "powerful mages don't play dress up". When her grandfather blesses an arrogant boy with his magic, Jules sets off on her own to prove that he made a mistake. After all, she's just as capable of killing Kurayami as anyone. But when she's face-to-face with Kurayami, everything her grandfather taught her about the gods is thrown into question; and maybe those she once called family are no longer deserving of the title. ----------------------------- Glossary: - Molder--those who can wield glass, usually with white or black wings - Grounder--those who can wield rock, usually with grey or brown wings - Castrealms "Casts"--aka dual wielders who can wield glass and rock - Emaru--island nation where the story takes place - Kirama--Julian's hometown where her grandfather was once governor - Chinera--city next to Kirama ----------------------------- CW: mild profanity, mild violence, transphobia, homophobia ----------------------------- Open Novella Contest 2023!
