A death bed vigil is like sitting on a live grenade for the rest of us.., just waiting for it to go off. There’s nothing you can do to stop it, so you want the anticipation to end, but you’re terrified that the anticipation will end. I remember last time the Reaper came to visit. You can feel his presence, it is thick and heavy. He never asks for an invitation, but he never leaves without taking a piece of your heart with him. I hate his company and his role. I’ll do what I did last time and just look through the wine glass till he leaves. The view is always better through the wine glass.

The only being that knows the truth is Death himself, for he is the one that sings this lullaby that makes us cross to our final resting place. After he found out that his parents were dead and he was completely lost he decides to take the boy into his home and become the grandfather figure that the boy had never known in his life, but will his death come sooner than planned with Death himself in his home? Three lives are intertwined in this tale of love, loss, and death. Will Death earn his spot back on his throne? Will Arabella fall in love with the boy that has somehow changed her life or write him off as no good? And what will become of Joe when he tries to put Death on the path of good? Oh no, not one of these stories again where someone angelic and heroic saves the damsel in distress. If only I was that lucky. My heart stopped beating.
