At fourteen, she has lost all her trust in people and refuses to get attached to any foster family that she ends up in. 

David and Alexandra Burke have four sons, Jackson, Jace, Max and Ben. David and Alexandra have always wanted a daughter and have always wanted to adopt. When they are asked to foster a fourteen year old girl, they see this as an opportunity to have the daughter they have always wanted.
