It's easy to tell fools gold from real isn't it? Pyrite is hard, far harder to scratch. Gold is soft, and can be damaged rather easily. Chiaki. . such a sweet girl, some would say she had a heart of gold, really. Hajime was none of that, a harsh, brutally honest young man, who often had good intention that was misinterpreted. First impression, people would say she's perfect, that's what she was in Hajime's eyes at least. No one's truly perfect though, and they would all grow to know that.
