Paul-404 is a homicide detective in a city full of clones. He hunts down other "Pauls" who have comitted major crimes. He knows what they will do because it's what he would do.

Paul-189 has murdered his wife and Paul-404 is assigned to the case. Paul-189's wife looks exactly like Paul-404's wife: she wore the same clothes, decorated her apartment the same way, liked the same perfume.

In a society where roles are assigned at birth, deviancy is severely punished. Paul-189 has let his artistic side run rampant. Did it make him a killer? Are Paul-404's secret drawings the first steps towards becoming a killer himself? When your target is just like you, who are you really hunting?
