A first-wing angel who goes by the unusual name of Derek has been struggling to get his second set of wings for a long time-three years, to be exact. However, with the epidemic of the literally soul-shredding drug Arbitrary plaguing Heaven and Earth, he is sent to the mortal world to not only discover who or what is really behind the mass destruction of the infamous drug, but to also realize the true purpose of his stale-mate in the wing rankings.
Jax, on the other hand, is a mortal female, who's life is hanging on by a thread, not because of a disease, but because of herself. She's in need of a friend she hasn't got, and her family is completely out of the question. She just can't help herself but to grow somewhat curious about the life that her brother has been leading outside of their heartless home after he saves her from the empty wrath of their father, and on her journey to attempt to discover the "hype" behind it all, she finds herself in an all but pleasant situation, leading to even more of a harsh reality.
