A story I began writing in response to a SAC prompt. I realised the idea I had was worth pursuing so I continued to add to it. It's nowhere near completion, but I will add more over time. The book is set out in short chapters, only a few paragraphs long, as I aim for the story to become much like a compressed novel. Stop-Time follows the story of a man named William Roland, a scientist who is employed by the U.S. Government to develop a "stop-time' device. The purpose of the machine is for use in counter-terrorism efforts, with the purpose of stopping time in a designated area in order to allow for reassessment of the situation by relevant tactical forces. However, the device malfunctions and becomes something much more. It is after this malfunction that William and his assistant Neil attempt to save humanity from a foreseeable doom, but the implications in doing so are much more dire.

My name is Nolan Moore and something special happened to me. Or at least that is what the psychiatrist calls it. I think it was disturbing, too horrific for words. What happened to me was something that keeps me up at night. Sometimes I lay in bed and stare at the ceiling for hours, even days. I get shivers down my spine even writing this down, but I have a feeling that I will be gone soon. So, if you read this, then you get a glimpse of my soul. I pray that before the end of my story I will get forgiveness for everything I have done. Just remember I did this because I thought it was the best thing at the time. Clearly, it wasn't. Time is a thin line floating between what was and what will be. It's flowing through space hoping to reach an end. Normally whenever someone makes a choice, time itself splits and although we don't feel a thing, it still happens, nonetheless. But now something happened that had never happened before. Two new lines that were created flowed alongside each other through the endless void, seeking their old one. They were never supposed to collide, but one strange afternoon everything went wrong. The three timelines hit each other dead on. Three people ended up on an island, three exactly the same people.
