Everyone in their family has a passed down power or two, at most three. It's been passed down from person to person, changing every couple generations.
Nobody was aware of this anymore, not until it was activated. It was also unpredictable, because people lost track of when it changed.

Deceit is unpopular in highschool, as others find him ugly with his snake-like burn, he is depressed and self harms, he has a crush on one of the most popular kids, Logan, they meet in a class and try to become friends, but Logan's friends, Patton, Roman, Virgil, try to push them further apart. Edit- 06/02/21 this was one of the first things I tried to properly write, it isn't that great but it does show how much I've improved and I find that cool now that I've gotten over most of my embarrassment about it.
