To Heal a Broken Land

It had once been a realm of peace and beauty, where magic and science were one and the same, and mankind lived in peace and prosperity under the reign of a ruler who was wise and fair. A model kingdom, if you will, one that was at the pinnacle of perfection. And yet, that peace and prosperity all spiraled to a sudden end when, 4 centuries ago, the ruler King Jaliel shattered the land, taking the lives of his royal retainers, and along with all that, the will of his people with it. Now, the realm of Boudal is a mockery of the glory it once had--deserts laid waste where there had been lush and fertile land, and the people have all given up hope of when the land would rise again. Lukiel, one of King Jaliel's retainers whom everyone assumed dead, somehow survived the cataclysm that had stripped him of his powers, has wandered the lands since the Sundering, seeking a way to heal the broken land, his spirit dying year by year until it is only obligation that drives him on. After nearly 4 centuries, Lukiel is drawn back to Kine, the capital of the realms once known as Boudal, by compulsion that soon turns into hope.
