Hi! This is the first story I've written, and I decided to base it on a short story my class recently read called "Marigolds." The author, Eugenia Collier, wrote the story in Lizabeth's point of view, and I wanted to re-write parts of it in Miss Lottie's point of view. The original is amazing, and I strongly suggest you read it before reading this. In Lizabeth's point of view, all Miss Lottie seems to be is a strange old lady with a weird obsession with the marigolds growing beside her old, shaggy home. The reader only gets brief glances of who Miss Lottie truly is, so what was Miss Lottie thinking while the children threw rocks at her marigolds, or when Lizabeth ripped them from their roots for good? Marigold Andrews is a normal 17 year old, dealing with normal high school things. She loves hanging out with her friends and eating ice cream. And she has dreams of becoming a professional dancer, like Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, and Gene Kelly. But then, her home in Florida gets hurricane warnings. It is recorded as the biggest, most dangerous hurricane in history. She and her mom get evacuated and go to New York City to stay with her older sister Macy and her husband Jack. As Mari adjusts to New York life, she tries to get used to a new school. But all she wants is to go back to her friends and home in Florida. Then her mom is offered a big new job, at the big corporate company Macy works at. Her mother accepts, so they stay in New York permanently. Mari tries to to be happy for her mom's sake, but she misses her friends. Things start to change when she meets Jiyong, the company CEOs attractive son. She soon discovers that he is the resident "bad boy." Everyone tells her to stay away from him, that he is nothing but trouble. But something about him fascinates her, and she starts to fall for him. Jiyong is sweet and attentive to her, until he seems to get bored of her, suddenly becoming distant. Then, she sees him with another girl. Mari is heartbroken, but she meets Seunghyun, Jiyongs' older, more mature, and very attractive cousin. Jiyong chases Mari, telling her that what she saw was a misunderstanding. And as she falls for him more, she realizes that maybe he's just doing it to spite his older cousin, who also shows an interest in her. Does Jiyong truly care about her? Or is he just using her? And does she truly care for him? Or has it been Seunghyun the whole time? Disclaimer: This is a fanfiction involving Big Bangs' G Dragon and Top, and Winners' Song Mino.
