  Author's Note:

(My focus is not for historical or geographical accuracy but to share a story inspired by many specific aspects of England's people and history and most specifically its Regency period. People, names, places, events, and customs will not be altogether accurate or congruent when studied as purely historical. Perhaps my story would better have fit the "fiction" genre, yet due to my drawing from many aspects of history nonetheless, I decidedly labeled "Unveiled" as historical fiction with the fiction taking more precedence than the historical.)

Disabled by a dog attack in her childhood, Beatrice Lockwood knows what it is like to become friends with loneliness. After years of hard work to cement herself into the small Yorkshire community of Impling, she has managed to create a meaningful, simple life with people who actually care about her. So when James Bancroft, an outsider, makes his disdain for her clear in front of everyone in town, she knows that keeping her distance is the only option. She cannot afford to lose the crucial support she has garnered. The only problem is that the damned man can't seem to stay away from her now. James Bancroft - stoic, chaste, and looking for nothing but peace - is not trying to make friends in Impling. Still, he had not intended to make enemies, either. After badmouthing a beloved pillar of the community at a dance, he knows he must make amends, and quickly. But the more he tries to make things right with the morbid Miss Lockwood, the more she pulls away. As his passion toward her grows, he finds himself unable to cope with his newfound feelings. After all, he knows quite well what it looks like when a man does not control himself. Vibes: Foggy moors, folklore, small rural community Tropes: *Overheard *Grovel *Cynical hero Trigger Warnings: Scenes of domestic violence, scenes of dog attacks, scenes of animal slaughtering/death *Though this book is set in the same universe as the Gentleman's Proposal series, it is largely unrelated to the other books. Therefore, I have chosen to list it as a standalone.*

▪️TIME TRAVEL ROMANCE▪️ "Go on, lie to me again..." With my back pressed against the wall, I stammered, "What-" Alessio placed a finger against my lips, silencing my protests, and smirked, "But try and make it more believable this time." **** In a desperate attempt to evade the Italian Mafia, art historian Serena Costa finds herself thrust back in time, landing amongst the splendour of the Renaissance, an era dominated by kings and their courts. In this patriarchal society, where roles are strictly defined, as a female, her destiny is already predetermined. However, Serena is resourceful and cleverly disguises herself as a man, named Sereno. Unfortunately, she soon finds herself in the service of the Marquis of Savoy. Though Lord Alessio possesses a magnetic charm and a sharp mind, he remains blissfully unaware that his new and slightly mysterious squire is, in fact, a woman. Imagine his surprise when he begins to develop unexpected feelings for Sereno, leading him to question everything he thought he knew about himself. Serena must balance the weight of her concealed identity while trying to find her way back to the present. However, things becomes even more treacherous when her growing affection for the Marquis complicates her path. 🔅Rated R: Contains thematic issues, adult language, MATURE sexual content, violence and possible triggers. ------------------------------------------------- Cover Photo: Edited by @KimberlyTanithMarie using an image generated by Midjourney © All rights reserved 2023 I DO NOT consent to my story being translated, copied or otherwise reproduced by anyone.
A Lord and Lace (Regency au! Prince Arthur x oc) by kfacecookie
1 part Complete
A wayward regency au one shot I wrote for fun, and because the concept wouldn't stop haunting my mind. ~ Trying to get back up after his ex-fiancé left him, Lord Arthur Pendragon relents to his friends and families idea of hosting a party in his family's estate. Although holding up hope for a new love that evening, he could not predict falling head over heel for a woman with haunted eyes, who secretly hides a crooked and wicked grin and a spark of intrigue unlike any he's glimpses before. After catching the sight of that side of her, and the way her families mistreatment severely dampens it, he finds himself sure of one thing. He's going to get her out their grasp, but doing so might be more tricky then first expected. Miss Harriet Frodesdotter is stuck in a hell of constantly being forced into a uncomfortable, lace covered, dress, into unbearably loud ballrooms, and dealing with condescending suitors that her controlling sister manages to steer towards her. The sudden approach by a Lord Pendragon does make her pause however, his sweet and concerned eyes appearing to be almost horrifyingly sincere as he offers to help her with her family issues. She doesn't trust him, he's not the first to claim to be her savour for purely selfish reasons, but something tells her that there's something more to him, and not in a bad way. ~ Content warning for ableism, family issues (including abuse, I don't perceive it as especially graphic, but it's there) and depictions of meltdowns.

In 1800s England, a well-meaning but selfish young woman will do anything to avoid matrimony to the county's finest suitors and to justly prove she doesn't need a husband to find her way in society. Even under the peril of her uncle losing his property and business to debt. In all but two months, she must prove to her family she's more than capable without a husband and can, in fact, exceed society's expectations of the female sex. But what woman can write what she hardly knows of the world, and its secrets? And most of all, how far is she willing to prove herself toward society and the Lord? At what cost for love? Maxmillian Knightley has returned from university in London, now facing the looming title of marquis. With that title comes responsibility to interact with those he despises most, and with which he must fight for his inheritance. But how far will he go in order to grow favor in the scrutiny of society and his stiff-neck father? He may be everything a woman of the ton looks for in a husband - titled, wealthy, and cheek bones that can draw in any woman - but he is in no mood to humor eligible women by participating in all things reformed. The question is: how far will he go to do everything against his own sensibility and judgment? For inheritance ... or for loyalty and love? The only common enlightenment between two entirely different sexes? A fondness for penmanship and our humorous Lord who writes the very novelty of life itself. And what happens if proving oneself leads to something quite worse? When it comes to love, making the right choices, these two are their own worst enemies. When Helene Lovell finds herself a penniless orphan, she is swept into the world of manners, money, and etiquette, where her cruel Aunt Lady Dorothea is the ringmaster, and never ceases to remind her of her burdensome existence. The only consolation is Henry, who shows Helene friendship and kindness in a place of sadness. Fast-forward a few years, where grown-up Henry and Helene meet again, but Helene must battle her ever growing feelings for him. As she stays as a guest at Henry's families residence, she is unwittingly submerged into the middle of family drama, tragedy, and love. Will Helene be able to overcome her social position, shyness and rank and follow her heart, or simply conform to what is expected of her? ~Dedicated to my grandma, who recently passed away but was the best story teller I knew~ UPDATE: I wrote this book a few years ago on a whim, and also to help distract me from the grief of losing my grandma. As such, it is very unedited! I am leaving it up because it was my first book on Wattpad, and came straight from my heart. I don't really plan on editing it so I am sorry if you notice any errors/holes/mistakes, but hope you can enjoy it in its very rough and unpolished form nonetheless :-)
