A Zurena FanFic. One-shot, but really, really long. 2nd person/Zulema's POV (Congratulations, you get to be Zulema)! Set in Season 5. Takes place after New Year's but prior to Maca telling Zulema that she quits. I wrote this to make El Oasis make sense in my own head, because while the Zurena interactions were on point, the story-line was total crap. I'd prefer not to give too much away here, but I understand that people like to know what they are getting themselves into, especially given the length of this work. So I will say this... This is written as a sort of stream-of-consciousness piece that takes a dive into Zulema's psyche as she navigates a meaningful day and reflects on herself and her relationship with Maca. It's written from Zulema's perspective, and truthfully second-person usually isn't my favorite, but it just felt right for this story. So for those of you who find that approach awkward, I hope you will still give it a chance. This is the first fic I have ever written, so feedback is truly appreciated. And since I couldn't get the d@mned Dedication option to work, I will add that here as well- This fic is dedicated to my little fried shrimp who inspired me to write it, encouraged me to publish it, helped me with the Spanish bits, acted as the world's greatest sounding board, and without whom it would not have ever happened. ~Mark~ I was walking chica when she took off down the street. "Chica!" I ran after her coming close to catching her leash several times. I went to step on her leash when I got close to here again but failed and ended up falling over. "Fuck." I stood up, and started running after her again. Once I got around the corner I saw her sitting with a young girl petting her. The girl was laughing and talking to her like a baby. The girl had light brown hair and I can't see her eyes because she was looking down at chica. She looked up at me and then stood up grabbing chicas leash in her hands. "I'm guessing that this beautiful dog is yours?" She asked. She has brown eyes with hints of gold in them. And they sparkled when she smiled. I saw that there was a empty styrofoam coffee cup on the ground in a puddle of coffee. "Yeah. I don't know what got into her. She's never like this." I said. "Bad girl." I looked and directed the last part at chica. "It's fine." She said handing me the leash. "I'm Mia." "Mark." I said, "it's nice to meet you." I stook my hand out and she shock my hand. "Again, I'm sorry for her." "Oh It's fine. Maybe it wasn't such a bad thing that she did run away. " She said and smiled. Her smile made me want to smile, and I did. I looked over at the empty coffee cup. She noticed and looked over at it. "Oh well, guess I don't get coffee before work." She picked it up and tossed it in the trash can close by. She then bent down and petted chica before standing up again. "Well maybe I can buy you a replacement coffee one day." I said. "I'd like that." She said. She then started rummaging through her bag and pulled out a small piece of paper and a pen. She wrote something down. "Here." She handed me the paper. "Text me sometime. After the destruction of the Beach you need to extend your visa, and are now nervously waiting for your next game to begin. "I noticed a familiar silhouette leaning against the wall across the room. A short figure, whisks of ash colored hair sticking out from under the big hood hiding his face, but ironically making him easier to recognize. I sighed as memories from happier times at the Beach flashed through my mind, but was swiftly brought back to the present as the big overhead TV screen came to life, announcing the beginning of the game." "Difficulty; Jack of hearts." The story starts at the Jack of Hearts game in season 2, and follows the series until the group is back in the real world. I mostly follow canon, but two games are rewritten so we can take part in them (Jack of Diamonds and King of Hearts). It's written in 1st person, with a nameless female character, with a backstory and some physical traits described. There will be canon-typical violence, some gore, and eventually, sex.
