Tom and Solace meet on the train to Hogwarts, the two talk majority of the ride and quickly become friends. As they are being sorted, the Great Hall is piqued with interest at Solaces last name and origins. Tom and Solace grow closer and as they mature and grow older, their interests start to align, both interested in the Dark Arts, but for two different reasons. Tom for power, Solace for her future. When Tom brings up Horcruxes, it immediately messes with their friendship, Tom tries to not let it bother him, but he eventually realizes he needs Solaces help. He notices his friend has changed completely and has gotten colder and antsier as her birthday draws nearer.
