Her soft cheek pressed against his, the warmth of her breath grazing the side of his neck. Her hair fell like a curtain around them, strands brushing his skin. And then that scent-sweet, fresh, strawberry-wrapped around him, dizzying and soft and utterly unforgettable.
When she finally looked up, her face was only inches from his. Her eyes-wide, startled, beautiful-met his, and in that one glance, something shifted inside him. Something deep. Something he couldn't name.
His heartbeat pounded in his ears. His breathing turned shallow.
What is happening to me?
The heat that rushed through him was unreal. He couldn't tell whether it was panic or something else entirely.
"Oh God... is this a heart attack?" his mind screamed. "What is this? Someone-please-help me!"
Naina quickly pulled away, her face flushed with embarrassment. "I'm so sorry!" she said, avoiding his gaze as she dusted herself off. "I didn't mean to-I just... Are you okay?"
"I-yeah," Ian stammered, trying to sound casual, trying not to look like his soul had just been knocked out of orbit. "I'm... good. Don't worry."

He felt like he had just touched fire and ice at the same time. Like the earth had tilted beneath him and nothing was steady anymore.
"Okay... take care then. See you tomorrow."
And just like that, she walked away.
He just sat there, eyes fixed on her fading figure, the echo of her scent still lingering in the air.
"What... was all this?" he whispered to himself, staring into nothing. "What am I feeling? Why does being near her feel like this... like everything inside me is trying to say something I don't understand?"
"If I keep feeling this way, I'll go crazy."
