Lady Serena Beryl has spent her childhood between the tiny village of Pago and the Oblivion Gorge. She sees herself as a hunter more than a noblewoman.  Unfortunately bad harvests and years of war have taken their toll on the lands.

In an attempt to have Serena come to grips with her duties as a noblewoman her mother sends her to live with family she hasn't seen since her father's funeral. The more she learns the less she wants to fulfill her role as a noble.

With the threat of war against the kingdom growing, what will she do? Marry for alliances and fall in line with what's expected?
