Alex used to be Lucy before the procedure. Before they put a lump of metal in her chest to act as her heart. This very high tech heart wiped her memory in the process. That was only the start. Now Alex is a cross between Artificial intelligence and human. 
But the bad part is, she's not the only one out there. Another is stalking her every move, seeking the last piece it needs, and they'll do anything including committing mass murder to get  to Alex and the precious piece inside her.
