Aurora Beauchanan is many things, and apparently being a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is about to be added to that list. With quite a few secrets that are better left untold, and befriending not only Harry, but the Weasley's and their friends as well, her whole life is about to be turned upside down, even more so when she meets the enigmatic Potions Professor, Severus Snape...And as Severus tries to unravel the mysterious personality of the young witch that seems unphased by his ill tempered and harsh disposition, he can't help but be curious about the unabashed and defiant Gryffindor who seems to present more trouble than she is worth.

With a spirited character and an attitude to match, Aurora finds that blending in and keeping a low profile don't exactly make for an easy life, especially with the Triwizard Tournament around the corner. When nothing is as it seems, how is she supposed to distinguish between what's real and what isn't? Say....feelings about a certain potions professor that she can't seem to stay away from?

As the secrets and mysteries pile up around her while her past threatens to expose itself, Aurora will have to overcome insurmountable odds and decide who she can trust as her life hangs in the balance. After all, sometimes things aren't about doing the right thing, but doing what needs to be done.

This story takes place during the events of The Goblet of Fire. Soulmate AU with a bit of a twist, since happy endings don't necessarily last forever.

Note: This is a rough draft, and the first round of editing changed the POV from first to third person. It's still being edited, so a second draft should take care of any remaining grammatical errors and the like. Thank you for sticking with this story, and I hope you enjoy it!

She worked her dream-job as a Healer at St Mungo's Hospital, and had a boyfriend, Jordan, who loved her and worked at the hospital with her. But somehow, she was still not happy. She still missed the people she left behind ten years earlier. One person, in particular. But when Jordan cheats on her with another colleague, someone she considered a friend, Emma finds herself gathering her things and leaving her whole life behind her. In a spur of the moment decision, she applies for a job at Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. To her great delight, she's hired as a professor in Healing. Arriving at the school, she finds out that her old best friend, Severus Snape, also works there; the boy she was hopelessly in love with during the seven years they went to school together, the man she could never really get over in the ten years since she'd last seen him. Now too late to terminate her new job, she has to make the best of it. And then her aunt gets killed while on one of her auror missions and all the evidence seems to point to Severus. Charlie X Reader, 'Playing With Fire' Book 1 (Series Completed) *** "Uh, yeah. I stopped going to classes a while back. Believe it or not, that's not good for the GPA. I had, like, a 26 average or something," I said like it wasn't a big deal. "Damn, that's not great," he admitted. He rounded the corner into Percy's room. I could hear Percy fighting with the twins in their room. "Why'd you do that?" he asked teasingly. "My dad died," I answered honestly. "Oh, shit. I'm sorry," he said and his face dropped. "It's alright," I dismissed. "Seriously, stop looking at me like that." "I can't help it," he said. "You're making it worse. You look like a wounded puppy," I whined. "Don't be like everyone else. I'm sick of people treating me differently because of this whole thing. Treat me normally." "You mean, like flirt with you a little bit?" "Well, I, uh," I stuttered. He grinned at me. "You're blushing." *** Seventh-year Y/N Y/L/N is what the professors would call a prime example of wasted potential, with an impressively bad 26% average. As far as she's concerned, she is past academic redemption. However, Dumbledore and McGonagall decide to introduce a new opportunity for struggling students, a scholarship that covers a trip abroad. Y/N is desperately in need of this scholarship if she wants to graduate from Hogwarts, but she is struggling through more than anyone knows. The only thing that is keeping her going is the family she's found with the Weasleys. They're an odd bunch and that's exactly why she fits in. Because she doesn't. Things are simple with the Weasley family. That is until she crosses a line with one of the Weasley boys, a path that can never be retraced. Y/N finds herself trapped in a web of lies that she had created. One spark and everything she has worked for could be gone in an instant. And she's playing with fire.
