After World War III, the surviving few founded small villages and established a tradition to help each other survive: every child would have to embark on a journey to a new village when they came of age. Few can survive the ordeal, but when one of the groups sent out struggles to get along on the simplest of things, will they be able to cooperate long enough to overcome the hardest challenge of their lives?

Where there's a will there's a way, and then there's Rem. A girl who lost it all after writing a book. Her writing style persuaded different groups to think and believe different things about her beliefs. The odd way her words touched the nation brought unity, which in turn made her the most revered woman in the United States. So much so that people sought her out to be the leader of the rebellion. Just shy of her twenty-first birthday, the once crazy college student leads a group of rebels through dangerous territory in an effort to escape to safer ground, only to face mountains of hardship in between. As the rebellion turns to full civil war, Rem tries her best to hold onto the last possession of her past life that she has, while juggling the relationships she builds on her journey. War changes every participant, and that's no exception for the Rebel princess.
