After going through a public "crisis" during her sophomore year, Kasey's friends dropped her and she got kicked off the volleyball team, leaving her to navigate the murky waters of high school alone. Now a social outcast, Kasey only hopes she can finish the last two years without any trouble - and leave Dillon behind forever.

Tim Riggins is a football star with a drinking problem.

From an outside perspective, he's untouchable. The epitome of an all-American high schooler with the world at his feet. But, he's unhappy. His turbulent family life has left him hardened and angry, and he's taking his problems out on other people.

A depressive freak and a brooding alcoholic don't have anything in common, but secrets and the need to tell them have ways of bringing people together - even people like Kasey and Tim.
