Lasya Chaudhary is weeks away from graduating college, and she is every Indian parent's worst nightmare: unemployed. Her friends are moving on to bigger and better things, but Lasya finds her fear of not living up to her parents', or her own, expectations stopping her from jumping into her future. Now throw in the fact that her older sister Varsha is getting married--not to an Indian man, much to the (unspoken) dismay of her parents--and that she has to go back and live in her small southern California town while trying to find a job and helping plan a wedding. Lasya finds it hard to handle all the changes in her life when she doesn't even know where to go next herself. Through a tumultuous year filled with awkward encounters with old friends, embarrassing situations involving attractive men, nagging relatives, an adventurous trip to India, and facing her biggest enemy--herself--Lasya finally learns to grow up, move on, and realizes what's most important to her, but not without the help of her closest family and friends.
