It's been 2 months since Mario, Luigi, and a group of heroes from different dimensions stopped the evil Master Hand, sealing him away. Things are at peace... but not for long.
Shadow the Hedgehog, one of the heroes that assisted the Mario Bros., has sensed something is wrong. He and Sonic the Hedgehog immediately head to the Mushroom Kingdom to alert the Mario Bros. They realize a new evil has emerged. Can they stop it before it is too late?

It all started on a rainy night. Shadow was on his way home, but his direction changed as he saw a familiar mobian in his presence. It's been months since he last saw his rival.
