The Glaranic Kingdom, a land of complex magics, is under attack from inside and out.
Daltin Bydeed, a battle mage with a questionable past, works together with a master of the wilds, a druid named Drezzen Drell and the former High Priestess of a murderous cult, to fight off both.
They fight the savage lizardmen from across the frozen seas, resistant to magic and intent on slaughtering every one of them. The lizards' god-king, Rakaskashin, a behemoth in size and viciousness, is not only bent on conquering their lands but has tasked his soldiers with the annihilation of all other races.
From within, the capable High General Alaric leads the fight against the lizards, as he is counseled by Jostiel the High Judge, and master mage, of the Kingdom. But they must deal with a murderous fallen warlord and the frenzied attacks of a feral ancient draconian being.
But, just as a magician would practice their tricks, someone is using sleight of hand, right before their eyes. What could it possibly be that they seek? And how much are they willing to sacrifice to attain it?

Book 1 of The Sword of M'Rael - Alara had learned magic in a kingdom where magic was forbidden to women, and she had gone even further to learn magic forbidden to all. She embarks on a perilous journey, pursued by the relentless wizards of Raujorn, and learns that her magical abilities may be a curse rather than a gift. Aerham had been trained since his earliest memories to become a knight in the Brotherhood of Light, but upon arrival at the Brotherhood's legendary fortress, he learns that the knights are not as honorable as the stories say and he finds himself pushed toward a destiny which he cannot avoid. Aryl had only joined the Brotherhood because of his friend Aerham. Choosing to avoid soldiering, he signed on as a scout and found himself thrust into the harsh frontier lands along with another scout, Jaegor. Together, they learn of a danger greater than anyone could have guessed. Theseus awakens in the forest unable to remember how he came to be there. As some of his memories return, he learns that he is a Draechai and that he had been on an important mission. He must find a now-grown child that he had lost and take her to a tower in a dark and dangerous place. But he cannot remember why! Other Draechai seek to stop him and a creature of purest darkness stalks him from the Umbra. This is the beginning of your window in to the story of M'Rael. Three young people find their lives turned upside down and struggle to survive. Pursued by the wizards of Raujorn, encountering mysterious Draechai and mystical Tael, they find themselves pulled in different directions as creatures from the Dark begin to threaten M'Rael once more.

A small sect of fanatical magicians, led by Bellack, a sinister and heartless spell weaver have not forgotten the powers that the old Gods once possessed and seek to secure their God Queen’s release to gain both her love and immortality. With the discovery of a large crystal deep in the Tanarian mines, the sect believes it has found a catalyst for their powers to break free their Queen. They will stop at nothing to acquire the crystal and, after their offers are refused, drag nations to war for their dark aim. Using their magic to tip the scales of war in their favour they force an order of Generals, the Su-Katii warrior elite to their will, as they alone will hold the key to victory in this war. Only Barrad a new initiate to the Su-Katii luckily escapes the brotherhoods control. The stage is set, but Tamar a renegade wizard, has subtly been working for years against their cruel plan. Never stop a golem's fist with your face. Jason learned that lesson the hard way. Having survived his "Death Experience" that awoke his Magic, Jason discovers a whole new world - full of supernatural wonder - and ruthless cruelty. He came to Louisville hoping for a new beginning and finds so much more - Magic, Acceptance, Friendship and (maybe) Love. Now he's in a mage war - part of a group of guardians trying to defend a strange and wonderful house. His friends are few, a battle mage, a mountain troll, a cheerful grandmother, a mysterious incubus, and a magical kitten. Magic is running low for the home team and the enemy mages are trying every trick in the book to bring down the shields. Jason will have to discover his affinities, what makes him special, before time runs out and Isobel, the mage eater, exacts her revenge. Note: Lots of magic in this book. Gay hero. There is physical violence. If you like "Harry Dresden" and the "Iron Druid" you will enjoy the "Fledgling God" in his first spellbinding novel of Magical Discovery and Mage War.
