"Jacob," I whispered shakily, "how-how did this happen? How did we end up here?"
"I don't-I don't know.." He whispered back.
I looked down at the ground and bit my lip so I wouldn't cry out in pain.
"Look at me," he said softly.
I looked up at him. His expression looked confident, but I could see the fear in his eyes.
"We're going to get through this, I promise you. We're going to make it out together, do you understand me?"
I looked down at my broken leg, then looked back up at him.
