The Tale of Violet Kingsley

Violet Kingsley is seven years old when she sees the bird for the very first time. This bird is bone white, with long front claws and a lashing tail. A monster from the stuff of nightmares. Violet's parents don't believe her when she tells them that this bird visits her every night. Then, one night, a stranger named Jack blows in with the wind. He promises to get rid of this bird that plagues her every night, and doesn't return for several long years. Upon his return, he whisks Violet away to the land of Astoria, a world of myth and magic. Violet encounters new faces and old, beasts and creatures of every kind. But there's a darkness looming over Astoria, one that threatens to close in on Violet as she learns more about this strange new land and the horrible origins of the bird from her bedroom...
