"Mama? Why can't I go outside?" The six year old spoke in a fragile yet saddened tone. She stares among the cherry trees that were in full bloom as the wind blows across the crops of the small rice farm. The gentle girl smiles as her dark brown hair blows in the wind. Her blue eyes staring across the sea of land is what she called it. The fields move side to side as her mother sits down next to the small girl. "Because mommy can't protect you outside these walls... you must stay here. I promise... nothing can get you if you stay here." The mother whispers softly, her eyes gentle as she rubs her daughters back. Yuki sadly holds the small river guardian dragon plush in her arms as it squeaks softly. Sighing gently she began to wonder. Why? What's out there? Why is mommy so worried? Yuri sighs and pulls her daughter from the window as she shuts the window then closes the window shutters. They were heavy and seemed unnecessary. For Yuri it was the only way to protect her daughter from the world beyond theirs. This was going to be a long night.
