I stared out the hospital window, watching the tree tops sway back and forth. The hum of a jet plan lingered in the high altitude of the sky above, I heard the chit chat of some teenagers down by the side walk and I saw there heads bobbing up and down as they past the building. Oh how I dreamed to just go for a walk on the busy streets, to hear the buzzing of cicadas in the evening, but most of all I wanted to be able to feel the soft, straw like grass beneath my feet and to be able to run barefoot for as long as I desired. I brought my hand up to the top of my head where the bald patch has increased through out the week, I felt a small feel tear wash down my cheek and whittled away on to my pillow. Suddenly my thoughts were broken by a small knock, I looked over to the source and it was Matilda my nurse.

“It’s time for your Chemo therapy Delilah, ready?” She walked over to my bed and put a reassuring hand on my shoulder. I solemnly nodded my head, knowing I was in for a real sickness for the next couple of days.

"We have a 20-year-old female, suspected tension pneumothorax, possible hemothorax, and blunt abdominal trauma," Dr. Bellamy announced, his tone calm yet urgent. "Initial GCS is 8. Let's move!" Dr. Bellamy leaned over Vanessa, assessing her airway as the respiratory therapist set up intubation equipment. "Her airway is partially compromised," he said, noting the shallow rise and fall of her chest and the faint gurgle in her breaths. "We need to intubate. Suction ready?" The respiratory therapist nodded, inserting the laryngoscope with steady hands. Within seconds, the endotracheal tube was secured, and a nurse attached the ambu bag to ventilate. Dr. Bellamy listened with his stethoscope, confirming placement. "Good air entry on the right, none on the left." Vanessa, a med student with a troubled past, moves to Dublin for a fresh start at Trinity College. Her charisma and confidence quickly make her a standout, but beneath her sharp exterior lies a hidden past. Determined to rebuild her life, Vanessa joins a prestigious emergency response team, but her secrets threaten to unravel. Her life takes another turn when she meets Astra, a law student. Their intense connection leads to a passionate and tumultuous romance. As Vanessa grapples with the lingering effects of a traumatic accident and her fear of vulnerability, she must decide whether to confront her demons or risk losing everything she has worked for. Hi everyone! This is my first attempt at writing a story, and I truly hope you enjoy it. I know the chapters might be a bit long, but I've tried to include as many details as possible to bring the characters and their world to life. English isn't my first language, so if you spot any mistakes or have suggestions for improvement, feel free to leave a comment, I'd really appreciate your feedback! 😊

~Completed~ 'I'm bold.' 'I'm ever confident.' 'I don't give a fuck about what anyone thinks and have to say about me.' 'I'm who I am.' 'I'm Stella Downer.' That's how it has always been, but what happens when things don't go exactly the way she planned... ~~~ He said nothing more, he had a sly smile on his face as he ran his hands through his hair. No doubt he was gorgeous. No doubt he's got good lips. No doubt he got any girl he wanted. No doubt I'm having crazy thoughts right now. "You're my boyfriend's bestfriend" I blurted. "It doesn't matter, I respect that but he's the only thing standing between 'us'" he replied, his voice still as calm as ever like nothing was weird... Like 'THIS' was normal. "'We' are not possible" I said mustering all the courage I could, trying not to melt under his gaze. "Does it mean you're considering it?" He asked. I wanted to reply but I couldn't, I couldn't just make out words right now. Was I perhaps considering it? What is wrong with me?! I just stood there, staring at him, his eyes piercing into mine like he was trying to read me. There was something about those dark eyes I couldn't quite comprehend. His presence was doing something to me! Everywhere was suddenly so quiet. Where is everyone?! Few seconds later, his face was inches away from mine, I just hope it wasn't what I was thinking. Every foward motion he took, I equally took a step backwards till I felt my back hit against one of the lockers. I could have pulled out. I could have pushed him away. I could have walked away. I could have hit him or slapped him away from me. But I did nothing... My body felt numb. The only thing I could feel were the weird sensation inside me. We were a breathe apart. I could already feel his body heat... •••••• Book #1 of the Downer Sisters Series. CAN BE READ AS A STAND ALONE BOOK!

14 parts Ongoing

In the beginning, it all felt so effortless, like we were simply meant to be. His smile, that infectious grin that made the world feel lighter, could melt any wall I built around myself. The way he looked at me, like I was the only person in the room, the only one who mattered. No matter how much Niall and Allison teased us, there was never any doubt, he was my everything, and I was his. Every touch, every word, every moment with him felt like a promise of forever. And for a time, I believed it. I truly did. Now, I wish I could go back. Back to when it felt like the universe was on our side, and nothing could tear us apart. Would it feel the same, knowing what I know now? Knowing how fragile everything truly is? Would I hold him tighter, love him harder? Or would I spare him the pain that looms ahead? I can't stop what's coming. But even knowing that, even with the inevitable heartache, one thing is clear: I will love him. I will love him with everything I have, for as long as I have. And maybe that's enough. Maybe that's all I can give him in the end. - Hope you enjoy! This has been cross posted to Ao3!
