It was the end of the first day of senior year. School had been a bitch and Connor couldn't think of a shitty metaphor for it because his hands were shaking too badly. Everything told him to take them, to swallow them down and die in the park.

But then there was Evan Hansen. Just the thought of Evan Hansen made Connor want to chunk the pills. But he couldn't keep living like this. He had to change something, but it wasn't like he could just uproot his life.

Or could he? Nobody was going to notice if he was gone. Why would they? Because when he finally faced the cold truth, who would notice if he disappeared? Evan would, but Connor was replaceable.

So that's why Connor Murphy decided not to kill himself. That's why Connor Murphy decided to run away and never look back.
