The Stone children have never had an easy life. Their parents Axel and Lauren were in the military so the family moved frequently. Because their parents were constantly away overseas somewhere or on base, the oldest children learned to take care of the youngest. By the time James was 15 his parents had divorced and their father moved to Australia leaving his family behind. Their mom was soon diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away 4 years later. James was only 19 and had already joined the military so there was no way he could provide for and take care of everyone. He reached out to his father so his siblings had a place to live but his father couldn't provide for them. Luckily their mother had left her childhood home to the children after she passed. The Stone's picked up from Georgia and moved to Texas within a week. Getting adjusted to life in Texas wasn't difficult for them because they have moved so many times. James was faced with a hard decision later that year when the department of child services visited him saying that the children would be put into foster homes if he didn't become their legal guardian. James only being 19 didn't know if he could be the guardian the kids needed but he didn't want his family being split up. He ended up becoming all of the kids guardian excluding those who were legal adults themselves. James worked hard and climbed up the ranks in the military quickly. A few years passed and he had gotten the offer to be a drill sergeant for bootcamp. The job would keep him in Texas so he accepted. He continues to raise his siblings the way he was raised. He was raised on the basis of respect and corpal punishment since his father is a firm believer in spanking his children since he himself was spanked. The children were used to James dealing with their misbehavior so when he became their guardian being spanked by him was nothing new. The Stone's run a their mother's family's dairy farm on top of their own jobs and other obligations.
