Ever since Kate went missing, Montesano hasn't been the same. When her body was found with bite marks on her neck that looked familiar to vampire bites, Matias knew precisely what had happened to her.
Matias himself is a vampire. No, he's not the stereotypical vampire you see on the big screen. He isn't afraid of garlic, he has a reflection, and he certainly doesn't burn in the daylight. What movies and TV shows got right for Matias is that he needs blood to survive. He doesn't hunt humans; it's just against his morals. However, a primal voice in Matias's mind begins to throw everything he's ever believed in out the window.
No matter what happens, no matter who else dies, and no matter what he finds out, his priority is and has always been to protect the life of his best friend. Daniel.
