Senku Ishigami is not a romantic, nor has he ever flirted with the idea. His life has been all about science after all, that much is true. But if he did have to choose someone, it would be Yae Sawa.
When it came to looks, Yae was often overlooked, not that she was ugly or anything, just that she didn't care about keeping up appearances. But her brain was beautiful.
There is little Senku knows about his younger classmate as she usually kept to herself. However, her score on the school board never went unnoticed, especially by him. To say he highly respected her intellectual side would be an understatement.
3700 years later, when Senku wakes up and arrives at Kohaku's village, Yae is there, and she's fully awake and alive-and has changed physically and mentally. Unfortunately, she remembers nothing from her life in Japan. What's more, she bares no marks-that Senku knows of, that is.
Senku makes it a personal mission to help restore her memory, because if he wants to survive in this new world, he's going to need Yae's help.
And when Tsukasa Shishio sets his sights on Yae, his plans to use her to populate the world again only urges Senku to give it his all in the name of science!

Knowledge is love
Growing up, I always heard people telling my dad why is he teaching me about survival. What's the point? Those skills won't be useful in this modern day of age. Why would you need to know how to use weapons like a Bow or tell the difference between some planets or fruits? But my old man never listened and good thing he didn't. My mom on the other hand taught me basic life skills I need in my day to day life like sewing and cooking. My mom was definitely more of an indoor, creative person so it's a mystery how she ended up with an outdoorsy, adventure man like my dad. But hey they say opposites attract and they are definitely proof of that. But I was never one for love. It can get complicated and it doesn't seem like something I would need during high school of all times. High school is already complicated without the need of getting romance involved. But who knows, maybe that's entirely true and I might change my mind or maybe not. Only time will tell.

Hikari has always been friends with Senku, Taiju and Yuzuriha. It's always been the four of them. While Taiju loved Yuzuriha and Yuzuriha loved Taiju, Hikari found herself falling head over heels in love with Senku. And she told blurted it out one time when they were real young that she wanted to stay by his side because she loved him. But it's been so long, she thought he'd forgotten, something illogical as that, wasn't something Senku paid attention to, but he paid attention to her. She was the only one he truly let into his heart aside from science. When the beam of light covers the sky, Hikari gets scared and looks to the only person that makes sense, Senku. She grabs tightly onto him and the two of them are turned to stone together. 3,700 years later, in the year 5738, a minute after Senku wakes up, while in the middle of getting his bearings, Hikari wakes up, begins crying, hugging him, like she had been doing before they were turned to stone. Senku calms her down and tells her that there's more important things than reminding him of her feelings for him, as he already knew about her feelings. He tells her that centuries had passed and they needed to figure out how to survive. That meant gathering food, water, find shelter and clothing. When she looks to see what he means by that, she freaks out and hides behind a tree until he gets her something to cover up with. His brain didn't fully grasp the problem that she was naked, but he found her something to cover up with.
