Will and Jake are both residents of The City where life is dictated by Father, who's word is law and unquestioned. Will's mind becomes increasingly filled with doubt and before long is taken away by the Big Brothers, Father's militant law enforcers in The City. Fearing what Repurposing might mean for him, Will escapes and goes into hiding inside The City, taking Jake with him, a now reluctant comrade trapped into the predicament with Will. As the story progresses, the two will escape The City, find sanctuary as well as a terrible secret kept from them, and begin their revolution against Father and his governing body, The Peoples United.
