Hatake Kakashi promised to the one girl he loved that he'd be there forever for her, he'd care for her, and he'd never let her down.
Fate is cruel.
His father committed suicide, he lost his best friend, teammate and sensei in the space of a few weeks. He and the one he loved slowly began to heal from these wounds, becoming stronger people from it. However, several years later, their happiness is torn again as she also falls early to her inevitable death.
Now, Kakashi wanders through life wondering what the point of it all is. He lost everyone.
...but maybe not everyone.
