"The Council is to blame, you evil bastards!" Carrie says through gritted teeth. "Burn in Hell you horrible immortals!" His screaming was getting lost to the stars, his voice was leaving him. He was choking on his sobs, wiping his eyes on his hoodie sleeves. He's sick of these damned immortals that haunt his dreams and paralyze him when he just wants to wake up.

He reaches for Maddison's hand, but nothing happens. He tries again and his hand just goes through her. He sobs and sobs until he was back in his bedroom, staring at the chipped paint on his ceiling.

[Book 2 in the Secret series] "That's not what I meant..." I chew on my lip. "Well, what the fuck did you mean then?" He shouts. "When I'm there I don't have to think about you!" I yell back. Wrong choice of words again, Sophia. I curse myself. His form immediately stands and he strides over to me, he is now inches away from me, his body is so close to mine that I am forced to take a couple of steps backwards. My back is pressed up against the window. Noah's breathing is deep but he speaks softly, "when you're there all I can think about is you." He raises his hand and tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. I step around him and head for the door, "uh I'm going to go to the hospital." I pick up my bag and rush out of the door leaving Noah in the room and saving myself from doing something I would definitely regret and make me change my mind about going back to Pennsylvania. ------------ 'I love you too,' were the last words Sophia heard before she was banished from her home city and she left without a second thought. He hissed as the alcohol touched his bleeding wound and he grabbed my hand. His touch ignited a flame and I knew that later I might have to treat myself for burns. "I'm sorry, did that hurt?" I asked, softly. I tried to calm my breathing as I did so, he was so close. The years that I spent staying away from his kind weren't paying off. "No," He retorted sarcastically, still holding onto my hand. "I hissed because I'm a snake. Of course that hurt, pumpkin." His comment awakened several buried memories, but I ignored them and continued to work on his wound. "Could you please let go of my hand now?" I muttered. He smirked and shook his head. "Do I scare you?" he asked, completely ignoring my question. Even though he did scare me, he scared me completely biscuit-less, I rose my head up and shook my light brown waves. "Absolutely, not." ************************ Gemma Reynolds is an an overworked nurse and probably one of the most innocent and pure people you will ever meet.
